Katinka Ødegaard

A True Norwegian Champion

Katinka is certainly no newcomer in the farrier world; in 2024, she secured the title of Norwegian Champion; As the first female farrier in the field.

She has been a part of the Norwegian national team on several occasions, including in 2014, 2024, and 2025, specializing in shoeing and balancing the resilient Icelandic horses. In addition to competitions, judging tasks, and daily work as a farrier, she is the founder of Nes Hovslageri AS, Norway's largest farrier shop, where she shares her knowledge, advances the field, and offers shoeing, hoof care, equipment sales, and courses.

We are therefore especially excited to welcome Katinka as part of the judging panel for ODFC 2026 — her experience, dedication, and professional strength will be a great asset to us!

Ian Schofield

An Elite Welsh Farrier!

Ian is an experienced farrier from South Wales with over 20 years of experience in the field.

In 2024, he achieved the prestigious Fellowship of the Worshipful Company of Farriers - a title held by fewer than 60 practicing farriers worldwide, considered the pinnacle of the craft.

Throughout his career, Ian has competed in a variety of competitions, including at the highest levels, representing Team Wales at the International in 2021 and Home International in 2022.

As a judge at Welsh competitions, he is known for providing constructive and targeted feedback that helps blacksmiths develop their skills. We consider it a great honor to have him on the judging panel for ODFC 2026! His dedication, experience, and professional expertise will be a valuable addition!

Daniel Sahl

Danish Top Level!

Daniel completed his apprenticeship in 2013 and just one year later, he began teaching at the renowned Kentucky Horseshoeing School in the United States.

Since 2014, he has been self-employed in Denmark, building a strong and professional profile both nationally and internationally. With five Danish Championship titles on his résumé and the title of current Nordic Champion, Daniel ranks among the very best!

He actively competes in championships both in Denmark and abroad, and we are proud to welcome Daniel as a Speedforge judge
